RAGGED WING YOUTH ENSEMBLE

For Bay Area high school students, grades 9-12

WHAT TO BRING :

  • a one-minute monologue (either contemporary or classical)
  • loose clothes to move around in
  • an ensemble attitude

DETAILS ON THE YOUTH ENSEMBLE

THE PROGRAM :

This company of committed young theater artists will:

  • Receive high-level, in depth training in theater arts
  • Perform in Youth Ensemble shows
  • Create original work
  • Develop experience with theater tech, design, directing and arts management
  • Apprentice with Ragged Wing’s professional productions


Why this program is different from any other :
While many programs provide classes, Ragged Wing's Youth Ensemble fosters more than a class. It aims to develop a community of artists which will grow together over a whole year to create a rich space for transformation, creativity and artistic mastery. If desired, students may continue to grow with the company throughout their high school career.

SCHEDULE :

FALL SEMESTER 2010 : September 21 - December 17
Regular Meetings: Tuesday & Thursday 6:30-8:30pm
* - including participation in a Halloween show
SPRING SEMESTER 2011 : January 4 - June 11
Regular Meetings: Tuesday & Thursday 6:30-8:30pm
APPRENTICESHIP : May 12 - June 11
Regular Meetings: Tuesday & Thursday 6:30-8:30pm
* - involvement in a Ragged Wing production as an acting, stage management, design or production intern

LOCATIONS :
Metal Shop Theater (behind Willard Middle School, 2425 Regent Street, Berkeley)
Envision Academy Theater (1515 Webster Street @ 15th St, downtown Oakland)

TUITION:
$1600 per student for the year, payable in installments. Scholarships are available.
