Over the past 9 years our grassroots company has grown into a performing arts organization that now produces a full season of original works; a fall festival, a full length mainstage show, a short play series, and a film/art/music festival, all while running educational programs that support youth to become the next generation of artistically engaged citizens. And... It's happening!! We are thrilled to announce that Ragged Wing Ensemble has just signed the lease on a building in downtown Oakland to create The Flight Deck, a shared, multi-disciplinary, performing arts center!
The Flight Deck will contain a 100-seat black box theater, a lobby/gallery, a rehearsal studio, a co-working office, and will be the home of not only Ragged Wing, but multiple small professional and educational arts organizations. Our vision is to create a space in the East Bay for artists to convene and present their work, propagate creativity by providing educational programs for youth and adults, and invest in the neighborhood by creating partnerships with local businesses, schools and city government. This new space will enable us to expand our commitment to creating innovative, original performances and providing high-quality arts education. But before we can begin to plan for our new space, we need to meet this year's annual fundraising goal.
